The property owner is always responsible for maintaing the public-right-of-way free from obstacles, hazards, trash and debris. The owner must remove the tires from the tree belt or call and pay for a bulk trash appointment to have the tires removed by the Department of Public Works. Alternatively, the owner of the property, can call Public Works and ask if he/she can bring them to the transfer station over on Middletown Avenue; at no fee. The number for Public Works is 203-946-7700. If you know who dumped the tires on the tree belt, then you should call and report the illegal dumping to the New Haven Ploice Department, 203-946-6136. Please get a written Police Report with a case number and the call Public Works with the case number and information.
