Description

The traffic light at Broadway/Ames is configured very poorly.

The easiest problem to fix is that the pedestrian light to walk along the north side of Broadway (crossing the 6th Street bike path) does not come on during the parallel green. Does the city really fear a concurrent walk light when the only conflicting traffic is bicycles turning onto the path?

The other big problem is that the lights are not coordinated. This is exacerbated by the short green and long red. Traffic and Parking staff should spend 20 minutes standing nearby watching the light, and maybe ride the 68 bus a few times, and see how you arrive from the Galileo or 3rd St light only to have the Ames light turn red in your face.

That is unless you hammer it and go 45 mph, in which case you catch the end of the green at Ames. The lights should be timed so you don't get penalized if you drive at a safe speed.
